Condé appoints first ever Global Head of Events

Conde Nast has appointed its first ever Global Head of Events, Patrick Garragan, who also becomes a Senior Vice President at the company. Garragan joins from Bloomberg, where he was Global Head of Events for Bloomberg Live.

In an internal memo to staff, Jackie Marks, who herself joined Conde as Chief Financial Officer earlier this year, said:

“I am pleased to announce that Patrick Garrigan will join my leadership team in the newly created role of SVP, Global Head of Events which will accelerate our growth ambitions for our events business. Patrick will be responsible for developing and implementing our global events strategy, adding new offerings to our more than 650 events around the world that take place each year. He’ll bolster our consumer revenue efforts by identifying new opportunities to transform our brands into experiences and tentpole consumer events for our audiences and partners alike.”

Garragan joins Conde with an extensive 20-year career having worked with a range of prominent media and lifestyle brands. Prior to heading up Bloomberg Live, he worked at The Atlantic for more than five years in various roles including as Executive Director of Business Development. The SVP will be based in New York, officially beginning his new role on 13 December.

“Patrick will oversee our global events business while working closely with editorial, commercial, consumer and video teams to build and execute an events strategy that brings to life our iconic brands in a multitude of ways,” added Marks. “There are a variety of teams that currently execute events across our brand and commercial teams and Patrick will be working in partnership with all of them, including Eric Johnson who leads events in the commercial team.”
