Il Makiage names Joe Libonati Chief Communications Officer

Il Makiage, the fastest growing beauty company in the US, today announced the appointment of Joe Libonati as the company’s first Chief Communications Officer. He joins the company from Condé Nast, where he was Chief Communications Officer and EVP of Global Communications.

“Il Makiage is doing what so many companies are only talking about,” said Libonati. “Changing the future of beauty and wellness by leveraging its unparalleled tech capabilities and high-quality products to deliver a best-in-class consumer experience. I am looking forward to working with Oran [Holtzman] and the team as the company enters its next phase of growth.”

Launched in the US in 2018 by brother-sister duo entrepreneurs, Il Makiage is a New York based consumer-tech DTC company using proprietary technology to connect people with products. Libonati’s appointment follows further recent expansion of the company’s leadership team and appointment of Lindsay Drucker Mann as the company’s first Global Chief Financial Officer.

It also recently acquired the deep-tech AI-based computational imaging startup Voyage81, to expand its AI and Machine Learning capabilities, in preparation for upcoming new brand launches in the beauty and wellness categories.

Libonati left Conde Nast earlier this year, where he had overseen the consumer, industry and employee communications strategies for the company’s 26 brands across 32 markets worldwide.

Prior to Condé Nast, Libonati held senior positions at Rubenstein Communications and Principal Communications Group where he worked with high-profile clients including YouTube, Zynga, Paramount Pictures, Viacom and USA Network among others. He also spent seven years at NBCUniversal, ultimately as VP of Corporate Communications in the company’s New York headquarters.
